There are some very impressive advancements in technology. Each of us carry the power of an entire computer in our back pockets with a smartphone, you can program your entire home to run from a single touch pad, and there are tools to make almost every job easier.
Technology is to thank for all of these things.
When it comes to harnessing the power of technology and using it to drive innovation and change, the field of orthotics is no exception. Innovation and technology play a huge part in what we are able to offer here at Orthotic Active.
So let’s look into the technology we have in greater detail…
Orthotic Technology
Technology moves at a frantic pace. In many industries, it is a struggle to keep up with the ongoing advancements. Fortunately, that is not the case for us. Orthotics is a field that embraces technology. That is because it allows us to offer the very best solutions for injury and mobility issues.
For a start, we have access to excellent tools that aid us in diagnosis. This includes digital scanning, high-speed cameras, force plates, and other great tools. This technology, combined with the knowledge and expertise of our Orthotists, ensures we can provide the best possible solution to get you back to living the life you love.
An orthosis should seamlessly fit into your active lifestyle and help you achieve your desired mobility levels. Even though it is an external device, it should feel like a part of your body and make things easier, rather than harder. Technology has allowed us to create orthoses that are lighter, easier to fit, more effective, and more durable.
Gone are the days where you had to settle for an ill-fitting wrist brace from the chemist or a pair of insoles from the supermarket. We can provide solutions that are in reach of the average New Zealander. And they are quality solutions. Innovative materials, superior production and a true understanding of your needs mean you will receive an orthosis that is going to help you to recover faster.
The Gait Track
One of the technological advancements that we are most proud of is our Gait Track. This allows us to identify any issues with your gait (the way that you walk or run). Using pressure plates, high-speed cameras and expert analysis, our Orthotists can get to the root of the issue.
But it does not stop there. Once we understand the corrections that need to be made, we can then print custom 3D insoles designed specifically for your personal gait. Yes, you did read that right, we print the insoles. On a state-of-the-art 3D printer that uses the highest quality materials so that your insoles will stand the test of time.
The beauty of this method is that we don’t need to settle for a passable solution out of a catalogue. The kind of solution that is not 100% perfect, but is the closest you can get from an off the shelf product. Our 3D insoles are created specifically for you, and you alone. We can also print as many ‘copies’ as you need to fit within the different shoes you regularly wear. Their slim fit means that they will fit in almost any shoe.

Custom Solutions
As well as providing custom insoles, we also customise other forms of orthoses. We can create the exact orthosis you need for any part of the body – from head to toe.
These solutions are designed to reduce pain, aid healing, prevent further injury, correct a deformity, rehabilitate, and generally support you with your life. They are designed so that they will match the contours of your body, correct the alignment of joints and really aid in your recovery, or improve your mobility.
